ILIGAN CITY (PIA) --The Dulag Elementary School (ES) is set to offer Grade 7 next year, according to Iligan Schools Division Superintendent (SDS) Roy Angelo Gazo.

During the turn-over ceremony of Project Kahinyas and the community outreach program in Dulag ES, Gazo shared the good news for the graduating pupils of the said school.

[We have been wishing we had a high school here for a long time. We plan to continue the school level next year with the upcoming class opening. We will offer Grade 7 so that your Grade 6 graduates will not have to leave this school.]

Gazo said they have planned to provide additional classrooms in the said school and encouraged the parents to be eager to enroll their children in Grade 7.

The SDS said that this is not just the effort of the Department of Education alone but the collaborative effort of the local government units and barangay officials.

School principal Frexie Maruhom was delighted with the project since their graduates will no longer have to enroll in Grade 7 in Barangay Lanipao which is 4.5 kilometers away.

[I am very happy with what SDS said, that formal high school here will start next year. I have observed that only a few can survive in high school because the child from Dulag will walk to Lanipao for high school. The distance is 4.5 km plus their residence is about 5 km.]

According to Maruhom, there are 216 pupils enrolled for this school year. (LELA/ PIA Iligan City)
