Iligan biz permit application, renewal data shows economy up

 

ILIGAN CITY (PIA)--Data on the business applications and renewal from 2020 until the present manifests that the economy of the city here is hiking up.

Permits and Licenses Division officer-in-charge Maria Rhodora Omlero shared in the recent episode of Kapehan sa Iligan Chamber Friday, February 18 that in 2020, a total of 10,557 were given their business permits wherein 1,664 were for new applications while 8,893 were for renewal. 

In 2021, 10,775 received their business permits and for this year. As of February 18, the division already recorded 64.44% in terms of the issuance of business permits based on the previous year’s record. 

Omlero stressed that notwithstanding the current circumstance, the city strives to be resilient and progressive. 

“Atong makita nga bisan tuod nga naa ta sa pandemic, hinay-hinay gyud diay nakasaka ang atong ekonomiya diri sa Iligan,” she said

[We can see that despite the pandemic, the economy here in Iligan is slowly rising.]

Omlero has earlier announced that they established a business one-stop-shop at Robinsons Place Iligan which shall operate until February 28. 

With the existence of this one-stop-shop, the city now has two sites catering to business permits application and renewal with the other at the City Hall. 

Omlero further stated they accept applications only when all the requirements are duly-complied which includes barangay clearance, a business name registered under the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), zoning certificate to see whether the business location conforms to the local zoning ordinance, and environmental and fire safety clearances.
