Iligan celebrates International Labor Day

ILIGAN CITY (PIA)--Dubbed "Advance and Protect the Rights and Interests of Filipino Workers Through the Labor Vote, labor workers here celebrated the 136th International Labor Day at the Robinsons Place Iligan.

The Federation of Democratic Labor Organizations (FDLO) initiated the said celebration in partnership with the Department of Labor and Employment Lanao del Norte Provincial Field Office (DOLE LDN PFO).

Various private enterprises, including the DOLE LDN PFO, gathered at Children's Park in Barangay San Miguel to kick off the celebration with a motorcade across the city, ending at Robinsons Place Iligan.

DOLE LDN PFO’s supervising labor and employment officer Criste Perfecto delivered the message of Sec. Silvestre Bello III. The DOLE secretary affirmed the commitment of DOLE to upholding the right and safeguarding the welfare of Filipino workers.

“On behalf of the Department of Labor and Employment, I assure you of our relentless commitment to upholding the rights and safeguarding the welfare of Filipino workers,” he said.

Meanwhile, Benjamin Velaso from UP DIliman School of Labor and Industrial Relations lauded the efforts of labor workers who are the heroes of the country.

As part of the Duterte Legacy Caravan and Labor Day, DOLE LDN PFO held a One-Stop-Shop Caravan for its services at Robinsons Place that benefited about 700 people. (LELA/ PIA Lanao del Norte)
