ILIGAN CITY (PIA) – As part of the week-long celebration for the 56th Foundation Day of the Gregorio T. Lluch Memorial Hospital (GTLMH) here, personnel and frontline health workers participated in sports activities such as basketball, bowling and volleyball tournaments.

Chief of Hospital Dr. Richillo Daguman assured that while the staff participated in different activities, the hospital's operation continued without compromising the responsibilities they have to deliver to the patients.

GTLMH also unveiled the newly-renovated statue of Gregorio T. Lluch, Sr. who donated the land where the hospital lies today.

Daguman said the celebration is also for the victory of the healthcare workers in combating the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic as the city finally achieved its herd immunity and is now under alert level 1.

“Para pod tagaan ug higayon ang health care workers na for the past 2 years, gihatag nila ilang selfless na trabaho. Ilang life gisugal gyud nila para sa mga pasyente na natakdan ug COVID for the past 2 years,” he said.

[The event was held to give a break for the health care workers for the past 2 years, they have given their selfless hard work. They really gambled their lives for patients who have been infected with COVID for the past 2 years.]

Daguman also shared some improvements made in the hospital. There is an ongoing construction of a building that can accommodate 120 new hospital beds. The GTLMH is also waiting for the CT scan and MRI machines that will be donated by the Department of Health. (LELA & ASK/PIA Lanao del Norte)
