ILIGAN CITY (PIA) --The city here celebrated Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Week through a series of activities and the signing of pledge of support in promoting awareness of the drug problem and being agents of change to bring down the drug dependency incidence in the city.
The Iligan City Anti-Drug Abuse Council (ICADAC) spearheaded the event and conducted a press conference inviting media partners to give updates on the drug situation and rehabilitation programs in the city.
Jules Verne Padilla, action officer of the City Mayor's Office - ICADAC said the city government along with stakeholders are committed to addressing the drug problem.
"Kung kita magtinabangay, kita magduyog, makab-ot jud nato ang kadaogan laban sa droga," he said.
[If we work together, and be united, we will achieve victory against drugs.]
Meanwhile, City Administrator Darwin Manubag said that their approach towards drug prevention and control is holistic.
"Not only in Iligan but also all other cities have problems with drug prevention and even control. Ang importante ani ang atong desisiyon ug direction as LGU dapat klaro," he said.

Moreover, Ritche Nuenay, head of the City Mayor's Office - ICADAC, shared the programs and activities implemented by the city government and other stakeholders to address the drug problem in the city.
"We also have our Barangay Drug Clearing program, which refers to a holistic and whole-of-nation approach in addressing drug problems," he said. (LELA/PIA-10/Lanao del Norte)
