ILIGAN CITY (PIA)--Miss Universe Philippines (MUPh) and Save the Children Philippines held a fundraising event here to promote their partnership through the Life Changer for Children program that aims to support children that faced discrimination and inequality
"Ang mahalaga dito ay bibigyan ng pansin yung talagang mas nangangailangan na komunidad, yung children who are impacted by inequality and discrimination," said Edwin Horca, Save the Children team leader for BARMM.
Horca shared that the Life-Changer Project will be implemented for 3 to 5 years. They will also work with the city government of Iligan to craft solutions for the Bajau children. The project also seeks to address hunger and provide access to education through an Alternative Learning System.
Meanwhile, Miss Universe Philippines (MUPh) 2022 1st Runner-Up Annabelle McDonnell hoped that stakeholders will support the Life-Changer Project. She also lauded the efforts of Save the Children for supporting and empowering vulnerable communities.
"Save the Children is not just about charity but giving people the opportunity to pursue their own means,” she said.
The fundraising event was hosted by the local government unit of Iligan. Mayor Frederick Siao also lauded the efforts of the organizations for their commitment to the children. (LELA/PIA-10/Lanao del Norte)
