NUNUNGAN, Lanao del Norte (PIA)--Provincial Governor Imelda Quibranza-Dimaporo expressed concern about the low vaccination rate in the Nunungan town and made a strong appeal to its residents to get inoculated against coronavirus disease (Covid)-19.
Speaking during the Greening Activity and Groundbreaking Ceremonies for Torogan and Multi-Purpose Building in the vicinity of Nunungan Lake on Friday, January 14, Dimaporo said though the confirmed Covid-19 cases in Nunungan is very few, its residents still need to get vaccinated.
"I am appealing to the people of Nunungan, the percentage of your vaccination is very low. Muhangyo lang ko kay si (I am appealing because) Mayor is doing his best already sa (in the) vaccination. You should get your vaccine for yourself and your loved ones," she said.
The Governor said a vaccination card is now also a requisite when going to offices whether government or private, and in malls and other establishments.
Dimaporo also urged barangay captains in the municipality to be at the forefront in encouraging their constituents to be inoculated.
The Provincial Health Office already logged a total of 4,803 cases of which 68 remain active as of January 12, 2022.
The Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) meanwhile placed the province under the less strict Alert Level 2 until the end of January. (APB/PIA Lanao del Norte)
