NUNUNGAN, Lanao del Norte (PIA)--As new infrastructures will soon rise here, provincial governor Imelda Quibranza-Dimaporo conveyed that such manifested that the province is resilient even amid the coronavirus disease (COVID)-19 pandemic.
She stressed that for the past two years with the battle of the unseen enemy, the provincial government has been focused on combating the effects and mitigating the spread of the noble virus which has disrupted the normal functioning of everyone’s daily lives.
“Our economy went haywire with either closure or under capacity operation of business establishments affecting many small and medium enterprises. Despite the enormous challenges, we were able to move on and gradually arrived at a better state which we call the new normal. Today’s event proves that indeed, we have bounced back,” said Dimaporo during the ceremonial groundbreaking for the construction of the multi-purpose building and Torogan, Friday, January 14.
Dimaporo underscored that as the town is positioned as the premier ecotourism destination of the province, the proposed projects appropriately embody the strong connection between the community’s cultural heritage and the place’s natural environment.
Senator Juan Miguel Zubiri sponsors the multi-purpose building project while the provincial government funded the building of Torogan.
Dimaporo said torogan symbolized the power of the Sultanate of Lanao and the core of Maranao, traditional statecraft, customs, art and culture but such was gradually forgotten as years passed by.
“I am delighted that we have this opportunity to reminisce about our colorful tradition and to uphold our rich culture,” she said.
Accordingly, the allocated budget for the multi-purpose building and the Torogan is P3 million and P10 million, respectively. (CRG/PIA-Lanao del Norte)
