ILIGAN CITY (PIA)--Committed to raising health awareness, Gregorio T. Lluch Memorial Hospital (GTLMH) celebrated World Kidney Day on March 10, 2022.
Dr. Rosalie Imelda Z. Orejudos, a nephrologist and internist, said the observance of WKD intends to raise awareness regarding the prevention and treatment of chronic kidney diseases (CKD).
“Regarding sa WKD, ang advocacy jud is to raise the level of awareness regarding the chronic kidney diseases kay ang atoang worldwide (record) sa adult patients, 1 out of 10 kay naay kidney failure,” she said.
Regarding the WKD, it advocates to raise the level of awareness regarding chronic kidney diseases as the worldwide record shows that 1 out of 10 adult patients have kidney failures.]
She also highlighted that the community, health workers, patients, and policymakers must be aware of the dangers that CKD could bring.
In line with the WKD celebration, the Hemodialysis unit of GTLMH partnered with the Philippine Red Cross - Iligan Chapter in initiating blood donation drives for hemodialysis patients. WKD is celebrated every second Thursday of March. (ASK/ PIA Lanao del Norte)
