GTLMH, PRC hold bloodletting drive for hemodialysis patients

 

ILIGAN CITY (PIA)--The Gregorio T. Lluch Memorial Hospital Hemodialysis Unit (GTLMH) in partnership with the Philippine Red Cross - Iligan City celebrated World Kidney Day (WKD) through a blood donation drive to save hemodialysis patients. 

Dr. Felinor D. Imbat, assistant department head and chief of clinics of GTLMH explained the importance of the hospital’s advocacy on blood donation for hemodialysis (HD) patients. 

“Kaning blood transfusion is a very essential part sa management sa mga HD patients so that’s why it’s a big advocacy of the hospital to really conduct (blood donation) every now and then,” he said.

He also said that part of the advocacy is to prevent HD patients from further complications. 

“As they go with their usual hemodialysis sessions, ang ilang hemoglobin in their blood is going down. So, we need to supplement every now and then ang ilahang hemoglobin content sa ilang blood to avoid complications,” he added.
