ILIGAN CITY (PIA)--Iligan City has acquired a mobile kitchen as part of its disaster response to provide hot meals to disaster victims.

With the continuous heavy rains due to low pressure area on March 6 to 11, the City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office or CDRRMO continued to rescue flood-affected citizens and served them with hot meals thru its mobile kitchen.

“Ang atong mobile kitchen, nakahatag tag hot meal nila didto sa mga evacuation center. Dili man nato ma cover tanan sa mobile kitchen so ga designate lang mi sa CSWD og sa DRRM,” said Patirick Nuñez, head of Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Head.

[Our mobile kitchen was able to provide hot meals at the evacuation centers. Since we can't cover everyone in the mobile kitchen, we designated someone from CSWD and DRRMO.]

It was reported that a total of 3,498 packed meals were distributed to affected families who stayed at 12 evacuation centers.  As of March 16, there are only three remaining evacuation centers accomodating a total of 39 flood-affected families.

According to the City Engineer's Office, there are four bridges, four ripraps, and two roads that were damaged  by the heavy rains.

Moreover, Nuñez also said that their mobile kitchen was also able to serve hot meals to the fire-victims at Barangay Saray. The fire broke out on March 8 affecting 260 individuals.

“Naabot lang siya (mobile kitchen) this year, mga last month (February) pa. Intended jud ni sa mga programs, and more on disaster response. Kung tan-awon nimo, the other day, naay sunog, naka respond dayon ta. Katong mga nasunogan, nakapakaon dayun ta immediately so maayo ang concept sa atong mobile kitchen,” he said.

[This only arrived (mobile kitchen) this year, about last month (February). This is Intended for programs, and more on disaster response. When there was a fire, we responded immediately. We were able to feed the fire-victims immediately. The concept of our mobile kitchen is really good.]

Nuñez reiterated that their office remains committed to providing disaster response. He also emphasized that there is a strengthened coordination and collaboration with other agencies. (LELA/ PIA Lanao del Norte)
