LALA, Lanao del Norte (PIA)--The local government here in partnership with Everca Foundation Inc. spearheaded the Kasalan ng Bayan (mass wedding) 2022 in celebration of the 73rd founding anniversary and 21st Alimango Festival.

For two years, the municipality was not able to celebrate because of the pandemic.

Mayor Angel “Tata” Yap initiated the mass wedding program since a survey showed that most of the couples in the municipality are not yet wedded.

“Importante sa atin yan. Meron kasi kaming survey, madami palang hindi nakasal sa amin. Tapos gusto namin makashare kami para mabigyan sila ng blessings sa church, sa mata ng diyos, may blessings, saka legal sila sa batas natin. Saka ang anak nila maging legitimate na,” he said.

[That (event) is important. According to our survey, there are still lots of couples who are not yet wedded. We wanted to share (financial assistance) for them to receive blessings from the church and to legalize their union. Also, so that their children will be legitimate.]
Yap also advised the 1,261 couples who got married to sustain their love for each other.

Newlyweds who benefitted from the initiative expressed their gratitude to Yap who sponsored the wedding they were longing to experience. (ASK/PIA Lanao del Norte)
