TUBOD, Lanao del Norte--Lanao del Norte Provincial Police Office (LDN PPO) in collaboration with the Commission on Election (COMELEC), and various national line agencies, like Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) and Department of Education (DepEd), conducted a simultaneous Unity walk, candidates debriefing and Peace Covenant signing for a Secure, Accurate, Free and Fair Election (S.A.F.E).

The activity was held at the Multi-Purpose Building, Provincial Capitol Compound, Pigcarangan Tubod on March 15, 2022.

Different multi-sectoral groups, religious groups, and personnel joined the movement including LDN PPO's PCol Isaias Bacurnay, BGen Rey Alemania of the 2nd Mechanized Infantry Battalion, Col Julius Librada of the 5th Mechanized "Kaagapay" Infantry Battalion.

Atty. Milber G. Alinas, the LDN-Provincial Election Supervisor, personally lead the briefing of aspirant officials wherein he emphasized the importance of following the schedules and necessary campaign rules and regulations.

Furthermore, Provincial Director Bruce Colao of the Department of Interior and Local Government reminded the candidates to act professionally and be more receptive.

"We are committed to providing assistance and support to the COMELEC and our uniformed and non-uniformed sectors in order for us to ensure that the national and local election 2022 here in Lanao del Norte shall be secure, accurate, free, and fair," he said.

"We, in the DepEd though we have limited roles, we will make sure that all citizens in the province can exercise their right to vote this election and make sure that these votes will be counted," said Schools Division Superintendent Edilberto L. Oplenaria of Department of Education.

Meanwhile, PBGen Benjamin Acorda Jr, Regional Director of Police Regional Office 10, urged all police officers and other security sectors to work hand in hand in promoting non-partisan and protecting the voices of the people.

On the other hand, Atty Francisco G. Pobe, Regional Election Director - Region 10 thanked all the participants for attending, showing their support for a S.A.F.E campaign.

"We will go for a clean election and an orderly campaign. We will win by the will of the majority," he said.

The Regional Director also appeals for the commitment of every candidate to make Lanao del Norte one of the provinces in Northern Mindanao that give the legacy of a true democratic electoral process. "Let us not be a burden to our society, we need to be more responsible public servants to help every people in the community to uplift their lives," he said.

Together with the rest of the candidates present, they signed the Peace Covenant and altogether release the doves, symbolizing their high hopes and commitment to have a peaceful, safe and fair 2022 Local and National elections. (PIO-LDN)
