BACOLOD, Lanao del Norte (PIA)--To give the locals here with proper education and awareness on the importance of the tourism industry, the Tourism Operations Division under the Provincial Governor's Office conducted a Community Tourism Awareness Seminar for 45 Bacolod floating cottages, pump boat operators, owners, and vendors, Tuesday, March 1, 2022.
In partnership with the Department of Tourism 10 (DOT10) and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), the activity was held at the Esperanza Function Hall, Bacolod town.
"With the rise of the tourism industry in Bacolod, we want to equip them with the proper knowledge that they can use as a beneficial tool for income-generation mechanism, particularly for those who live near and work in emerging tourist destinations," said Alerma Grace Montañez.
Meanwhile, Decius Esmedalla, DOT 10 Chief Tourism Operations Officer, and DENR Environmental Management Specialist Grace Lapeciros discussed the overview of Republic Act 9593 or the Tourism Act of 2009, environmental protection, Do's and Dont's in tourism, and as well as basic health and safety protocol in handling visitors and guests.
