ILIGAN CITY (PIA)--The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) is now expected to release the social pension for indigent senior citizens every quarter.
As shared by City Social Welfare and Development (CSWD) Social Welfare Officer II Melody Camilo, the DSWD will implement beginning this year a quarterly pay-out wherein each elderly will receive P1,500 as each month they are entitled to P500.
She said that such an act is initiated following the suggestions of associations of senior citizens posing that others would not have the opportunity to enjoy the pension if this would be given every semester.
To recall, the previous year had the elderlies receive P3,000 per semester considering the pay-out would happen only twice a year
With the new set-up of the distribution of social pension, Camilo conveyed that the local government has exerted its full effort to grant the request of having a quarterly social pension.
“We are so thankful sa atong leaders tungod kay nakita nila usa ni ka mahinungdanon since ang Iligan dako kaayo ang population sa senior citizens,” she said.
