ILIGAN CITY (PIA)--The City Social Welfare Development (CSWD) here reiterated that the local government’s Office of the Senior Citizens Affairs (OSCA) is open to accept complaints against establishments not honoring and observing discounts and privileges of senior citizens.
CSWD Social Welfare Officer II Melody Camilo said the monitoring of the compliance of Republic Act No. 9994, otherwise known as the Expanded Senior Citizens Act of 2010, and the dissemination of the stipulated provisions are shouldered by the OSCA
“Ang pagpakaylap, pagpahibalo ug paghatud sa mga benepisyo ngadto sa atong mga katiguwangan trabaho sa OSCA,” she conveyed during an episode of Heading Online options for Protecting Consumers and Enabling Businesses (HOPE) Webinar Series of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI)-Lanao del Norte Wednesday, February 16.
[The circulation, promotion and delivery of the benefits towards the senior citizens are the duties of the OSCA.]
Camilo further stated that in case concerns need to be addressed, especially with relevance to businesses failing to recognize the granted benefits, the OSCA listens to it with reports furnished to the Office of the Mayor.
“The OSCA will also assist kung aduna may mga senior citizen na magreklamo. Kung aduna man pud mga reklamo, the OSCA will act as mapaminawon sa atong concerned person and the entity nga gireklamo ilabina na nga wa nagpaavail og discount,” she said.
[The OSCA will assist if we have senior citizens who will complain. If ever there will be concerns, the OSCA will act as a listener to our concerned person and the entity complained of especially because it did not allow the availing of discount.]
As provided by the law, a senior citizen may avail benefits including those of the medical, travel, entertainment, recreation and utility privileges with respective discounts. (CRG/PIA-ICIC)
