Vaccine-hesitant parents urged to have their kids vaccinated

By Lou Ellen Antonio

ILIGAN CITY (PIA)--Parents of kids who recently get their jabs against the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID 19) called on the parents who continue to hesitate to get their kids inoculated.

Cherry Mae Paragados of Brgy. Santiago said she trusted the safety and effectiveness of vaccines for their fraternal twins who are asthmatic.

“Twins man gud ni sila then they are asthmatic. So mao nang nagpavaccainte jud mi kay nahadlok na ma-COVID ba,” she said.

[They are twins then they are asthmatic. So that's why we have them vaccinated because we were afraid that they will acquire COVID.]

Paragados said the vaccine will protect the children from the disease. She said parents of kids who have comorbidities should not worry since there are doctors who will screen them. She also said her kids wanted to have face-face classes soon so that they will be engaged in activities rather than being confined at home.

On the other hand, Louie P. Gabunada of Brgy. Tubod encouraged parents to have their kids get the jab.

“Ang akong panawagan sa mga parents gyud na ila gyud pabakunahan ang ilang mga anak kay para gyud na sa kaayohan sa ilang mga bata, ug dili mutuo sa istorya sa uban kay dili gyud na tinood,” he said.

[ I call on the parents that they should have their kids vaccinated for their benefit and do not believe the story of others because it is not true.]

The vaccination site at Adventist Medical Center is open every Wednesday, while children can get vaccinated at Robinsons Place Iligan on Friday and Saturday. All vaccination sites are open between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. (LELA/PIA Iligan)
