ILIGAN CITY (PIA)-- The Local Price Coordinating Council (LPCC) inspected the water refilling stations here for two days to ensure that water being sold to the public is clean and safe.

City's chief sanitation inspector Evan Lagura said it is important to ensure that the water refilling stations in the city have complied with the requirements.

“Importante na masiguro nato sa tanang lumulupyo sa Iligan na safe ang ginainom na tubig,” he said.

[It is important that we make sure that all Iligan residents have safe drinking water.]

Lagura also said that water refilling stations are required to get sanitary permits annually. He added that they need to get their water examined through various tests.

Based on the LPCC monitoring data, out of the 95 water refilling stations inspected, 68 of them had updated monthly Bacteriological Test, 44 had Physical-Chemical Test, 35 had Sanitary Permit, and 49 establishments presented health card certificates of their employees.

It was also found out that most of the water refilling stations in the city, do not comply with wearing Personal Protective Equipment if PPEs like apron, rubber boots, hand gloves, hairnet, and facemask.

LPCC is composed of CHO, Permits & Licenses Division of City Mayor’s Office, Department of Trade and Industry, Bureau of Fire Protection, City Information Office, and Philippine Information Agency. (LELA/PIA Lanao del Norte)
