ILIGAN CITY (PIA) – As the National and Local Elections in May gets near, the political bets here are reminded that posting campaign materials does not guarantee success in elections.
Acting City Election Officer Atty. Joel Dexter Nagtalon of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) said that platforms for the people will make the political candidates win in the coming elections.
“Ang sa ako lang, dili mana makapadaog sa inyo [mga kandidato] ang mga karatula og mga campaign paraphernalia. Ang makapadaog sa ila kay ilang mga ipakita nga platforms nga maconvince nila ang mga botante nga dapat sila ang pilion nga muserbisyo sa syudad sa Iligan,” he said.
[For me, signs and campaign paraphernalia will not make them win over other candidates. What can make them win is their platform that they can convince the voters that they should be chosen to serve the city of Iligan.]
Nagtalon said that poll bets should adhere to the rules and regulations of the election campaign as this also manifests good governance.
“Sa pagsunod sa mga pamalaod, diha pud nato mapakita unsa atong kinaiya isip mga public servants kung mudaog man gale,” he added.
[By following the laws, you will also be able to show how you behave as public servants if you ever win.]
Recently, the Task Force Baklas composed of Comelec, Department of Public Works and Highways, Department of Environment and Natural Resources, and Bureau of Fire Protection conducted another ‘Operation Baklas’ or removal of “unlawful” election materials posted by political candidates across the City.
